The FDNY Foundation, established in 1981 is the official not-for-profit of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). Our mission is to promote fire and life safety education and help the FDNY better protect New York. The FDNY Foundation funds programs that advance the FDNY’s goals, which include maintaining operational excellence, reaching out to the community with an array of fire and life safety programs, and ensuring that our firefighters and EMS personnel have the best available training and equipment. The FDNY Foundation is:

  • The only organization authorized to raise funds on behalf of the FDNY and;
  • The FDNY Foundation does not solicit by telephone or use telemarketers.

This annual event serves as the FDNY Foundation's opportunity to honor some of the Department's esteemed supporters with a humanitarian awards ceremony. The Foundation's largest event of the year, the gala has raised millions of dollars to support FDNY fire and life safety education efforts throughout New York City, as well as professional development, equipment and technology for members of the Department. FDNY Firefighter for a Day Team Challenge

This one-day event was developed to share the New York City Fire Department’s best team-building practices with corporations. Participants receive personalized and innovative team-building experiences at the renowned FDNY Fire Academy. The challenges give teams of all kinds the rare opportunity to experience the FDNY's state-of-the-art training simulators to strengthen teamwork skills. Learn More
