Three FDNY Members Receive the Presidential Medal of Valor

On Wednesday, May 17th, FDNY Members Lt. Justin Hespeler, Lt. Jason Hickey, and Firefighter Patrick Thornton were among nine people awarded the Presidential Medal of Valor, the highest honor in the country bestowed on public safety officers. “The award is given for actions above and beyond the call of duty and exhibiting exceptional courage, extraordinary decisiveness, presence of mind, unusual swiftness and action, regardless of his or her personal safety in an attempt to save or protect a human life,” said President Biden.

The FDNY Foundation congratulates Lt. Hespeler, Lt. Hickey, and Firefighter Thornton on this extraordinary achievement!
