The FDNY Foundation Mourns the Passing of Former Giants Coach Jim Fassel

The FDNY Foundation sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Giants coach Jim Fassel who died Monday at the age of 71.

Coach Fassel was the FDNY Foundation’s honoree at our annual Dinner and Humanitarian Awards ceremony in 2005, along with Jeffrey R. Immelt and Stephen Dannhauser. Coach Fassel, also an attendee of the Foundation’s All-Star celebrity breakfast, is a longtime friend and supporter of the FDNY.

“Honorees like Coach Jim Fassel help raise awareness to the needs of the men and women of the New York City Fire Department,” said FDNY Foundation Chairman Stephen Ruzow. “He will be deeply missed.”

Coach Fassel coached the Giants from 1997 to 2003, winning NFL Coach of the Year in 1997 and leading the team to Super Bowl XXXV three years later, where they lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
