FDNY Holds Plaque Dedication Ceremony for Firefighter William P. Moon II

On Saturday, January 27, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY for a Plaque Dedication Ceremony for Firefighter William P. Moon II at Engine 275/Ladder 133 in Queens.

The FDNY Foundation joins the FDNY in remembering Firefighter Moon. We remember and honor him for his service, commitment, sacrifice, and dedication to the FDNY and the City of New York. Firefighter Moon will never be forgotten.

Firefighter Moon, a 21-year veteran of the Department, spent nearly 20 years at Ladder 133 serving the Jamaica, Queens community before he transferred to Rescue 2 in Brooklyn.

On Monday, December 12, 2022, Firefighter Moon suffered a traumatic head injury during a training accident at Rescue 2. When it became clear he would not recover, his family made the decision to donate his organs which saved the lives of five people, including two retired FDNY firefighters.

Firefighter Moon is the 1,159th member of the Department to make the Supreme Sacrifice.
