FDNY Foundation Joins the FDNY in Mourning the Passing of Probationary Firefighter Vincent Malveaux

It is with deep regret that FDNY Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro announces the death of Probationary Firefighter Vincent Malveaux. Probationary Firefighter Malveaux, 31, from Brooklyn, suffered a medical episode during morning training on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the FDNY Training Academy on Randall’s Island. He was transported to Harlem Hospital and passed away on Friday, December 3rd. Probationary Firefighter Malveaux is the 1,154th member of the FDNY to die as a result of injuries sustained in the line-of-duty. He is survived by his parents, Loyd and Vincent.

The FDNY Foundation joins the FDNY in mourning the passing of Probationary Firefighter Malveaux. We thank him for his service and dedication to the FDNY, both as an EMT and as a Probationary Firefighter. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Commissioner Nigro said, “This is a heartbreaking loss of a young man who chose a life of brave service to others, first providing outstanding emergency medical care as an EMT in the Bronx and then training to be a New York City Firefighter. Our entire Department mourns the passing of this heroic individual who dedicated himself to saving lives. Our thoughts are with his family, our EMTs who worked closely beside him, and his fellow Probies.”
