FDNY Foundation joins the FDNY in Mourning the Passing of Firefighter Mark Batista

It is with deep sadness that the FDNY Foundation joins the FDNY in mourning the passing of active FDNY Firefighter Mark Batista of Engine 226. Firefighter Batista tragically passed away on Friday, June 9th while trying to save his daughter from drowning at the Jersey Shore. Firefighter Batista was a 15-year veteran of the department, serving as both an EMT and a firefighter.

Firefighter Batista leaves behind a wife and three children. The FDNY Foundation has set up a scholarship fund for Firefighter Batista’s children.
