On Thursday, May 30th, the FDNY Officers Management Institute (FOMI), graduated 16 FDNY members at a ceremony at FDNY Headquarters.

The FDNY Foundation congratulates these 16 FOMI graduates! We are proud to continue to fund this great program which helps to improve the department.

FOMI was established in 2002 by Columbia University and funded by the FDNY Foundation. Since its inception, the FDNY Foundation has invested over $5 million in FOMI, which was developed based on a recommendation in the McKinsey Report done in the wake of September 11th.

The 16 FDNY members who participated in the program this year included eight Fire Officers, four EMS Chiefs, two Supervising Fire Marshals, and two Deputy Directors. Participants worked on projects related to community risk reduction, energy storage systems, electric response vehicles, and the EMT to Firefighter Promotional exam.

FOMI helps make the FDNY more resilient and stronger by giving high-ranking members a solid foundation in management principles and leadership strategies which are essential to the Department’s continued operational success. This is the 22nd graduating class of FOMI (the FDNY Officers Management Institute).
