On Monday, December 6th, Andreas Dracopoulos, Co-President of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) was sworn-in as an Honorary Battalion Chief in a ceremony at the FDNY FireZone in Rockefeller Center that was presided over by FDNY Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro and Chief of Department Thomas Richardson, Stephen L. Ruzow, Chairman of the FDNY Foundation and FDNY Foundation Board member Chris Carrera. Honorary Battalion Chief is an award granted by the FDNY, given in recognition of exceptional contributions an individual has made to the FDNY.
The FDNY Foundation congratulates Mr. Dracopoulos on this well-deserved honor, and thanks him and the SNF Foundation for their ongoing support of many FDNY programs, projects, and initiatives.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) is one of the world’s leading private, international philanthropic organizations, making grants to nonprofit organizations in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and sports and social welfare. SNF funds organizations and projects worldwide that aim to achieve a broad, lasting, and positive impact for society at large and exhibit strong leadership and sound management.
Throughout the years, SNF and Mr. Dracopoulos have been tremendous supporters of The FDNY Foundation and major donors in the build of the new FDNY FireZone. They provided a grant for our FDNY COVID-19 Emergency Fund to help acquire critical supplies, including additional personal protective equipment (PPE) for FDNY first responders. Their continued support has helped enhance training and education for FDNY members.
We send our sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Dracopoulos and SNF for all they do to help the FDNY members save lives and protect property and serve all who live work and visit New York City.
