FDNY Foundation Congratulates 63 FDNY Fire Officers on their Promotions

On Tuesday, May 28, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY for a promotion ceremony for 63 FDNY Officers at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randall’s Island. Deputy Assistant Chief Michael Woods, 30 Captains, and 32 Lieutenants were sworn into their new roles.

The FDNY Foundation congratulates all 63 members on their promotions! This is a tremendous accomplishment for them and their families. We wish them continued success and thank them for their service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York and proudly representing the FDNY.

“Leadership is one of the greatest challenges and honors we can take on in any place, especially in the world’s greatest fire department,” said Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh. “You’ve decided to have moral courage and lead those people that you love in this Department. Keep them safe every day, be there for them in their good times and their bad times to coach them and make them a better team.”

“Each of you works to ensure that the FDNY continues to keep everyone on the fire ground and in New York City safe,” said Chief of Department John Hodgens. “My advice: lead by example, remain humble, challenge yourselves, and continue to learn every day.”
