January 25, 2024

The FDNY Foundation congratulates the 49 Probationary Fire Protection Inspectors who graduated today. We wish them the best of luck as they begin their careers in the FDNY!

“They do critical behind the scenes work to ensure the safety of our city and its residents. They are the first line of defense to make sure things are done correctly. They identify fire and life safety hazards in schools, businesses, apartments, and other establishments throughout the city,” said Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh.

The inaugural Assistant Chief Ronald R. Spadafora Award was given to Probationary Fire Protection Inspector Vanessa Guerra for academic excellence. Spadafora was a tireless crusader for the FDNY, holding many positions before his appointment as Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention.

Probationary Fire Protection Inspector Shaown Choudhury was give the Most Valuable Proby Award.

“Our fire inspectors have many more months of learning as they rotate in and out different units, and when they’ve completed those rotations, they will be even better than they are today,” said Chief of Fire Prevention Anthony Saccavino. “I am proud to welcome our graduates into the best fire department in the world.”
