FDNY Foundation Congratulates 169 FDNY Fire Officers on their Promotions

On Wednesday, May 27th, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY for a promotion ceremony for 169 FDNY Officers at St. John’s University in Queens.

The FDNY Foundation congratulates all 169 officers on their promotions! This is a tremendous accomplishment for them and their families. We wish them continued success and thank them for their service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York and proudly representing the FDNY.

“Promotion day at the FDNY is always one of the proudest days on the Department’s calendar. It’s a day we recognize achievements, leadership, sacrifice and commitment,” said Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore. “The FDNY is built on the strength of those who came before us—members who taught us what service means, what sacrifice means, and what it means to wear the FDNY uniform. This year, as we mark the 25th year since the attacks on September 11th, those lessons carry an even greater weight.

“Whether it’s your first promotion or your fourth or fifth, leadership is more than a rank or title. It is a responsibility you accept every time you start a tour to make sure that your members are prepared and to do everything in your power to make sure every member makes it home safe,” Chief of Department John Esposito said.

Members were promoted to the ranks of Deputy Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Fire Marshal, Marine Wiper and Marine Pilot.
