The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) hosted a screening of two original films produced in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
“Remembering Judge” shares the story and legacy of FDNY Chaplain Father Mychal Judge, the first officially recorded victim of the September 11 attacks, designated Victim 0001. “Resilience” examines the ongoing health impacts experienced by FDNY members who took part in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center, and the toll September 11 continues to take on the Department 25 years later.
Together, the films offer a look at the lasting impacts of September 11 on the FDNY — from the events of that day to the challenges, losses, and resilience of the 25 years that followed.
“Twenty-five years after September 11, we continue to honor those we lost,” said Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore. “We do that by making good on our promise to Never Forget. These films help us tell the FDNY story, including the extraordinary life and legacy of Father Judge and his impact on our Department. We also look at the resilience of the members who responded to the World Trade Center and have lived with illnesses ever since. The films capture critical parts of the Department’s history, and we have a responsibility to ensure our legacy includes those we promised to Never Forget.”

The films will have a limited theatrical release at the Firehouse Cinema in Lower Manhattan at 87 Lafayette Street, New York, NY, 10013. Tickets can be purchased HERE with proceeds helping to support the lifesaving mission of the FDNY Foundation, the Department’s official nonprofit organization.
