FDNY and FDNY Foundation Launch Official 2018 FDNY Calendar of Heroes

The FDNY and FDNY Foundation celebrated the launch of the official 2018 Calendar of Heroes on Mon., Oct. 23 in Herald’s Square in Manhattan.

The release of the Calendar of Heroes is one of the most hotly anticipated events of the year. This year, there are two calendars: one featuring the men of the FDNY and one featuring the women of the FDNY.

“This fun annual event gives us an opportunity to highlight the incredible work of the brave men and women of the FDNY,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro. “The members featured in the calendars represent the men and women of the FDNY, they represent Fire and EMS, and they represent what every member of the FDNY is doing every single day: answering the call of duty without hesitation and keeping New Yorkers safe.”

As a part of the release of the calendars, featured FDNY members were on hand to greet fans and sign photos at Herald’s Square Plaza.

“I was speechless and overjoyed when I found that that I was selected for this year’s calendar,” said FDNY EMT Kelly Canham, Station 57 and model for the month of April. “Women need to see that they are just as powerful and strong as anyone else.”

“I joined the FDNY after being in the Navy for 9 years because I love what the department represents; professionalism, pride, and service to others,” said FDNY Fire Fighter Conrad B. Graham Jr, Engine 255 and model for the month of March. “It is about helping the community and I’m proud to be helping the Foundation in any way I can.”

“Emergency Medical Services are an intricate part of the FDNY and I think it is important for the community to know that we are a unified service that is here to put their minds at ease during their emergencies,” said FDNY Lieutenant Leonore Joy Garcia, Office of Medical Affairs and model for the month of December. “I am glad I can represent EMS and women in this year’s FDNY Calendar.”

Each month on the calendars brings a fire and life safety message ensuring that each person who purchases a calendar can remain safe all year long.

The 2018 FDNY Calendar of Heroes is the only official calendar of the New York City Fire Department. All proceeds from the sale of the calendar go directly to the FDNY Foundation and allow the Foundation to promote fire and life safety education for residents and visitors to New York City, as well as to provide professional development, training and education for members of the FDNY.

“This is an event that we look forward to every year,” said FDNY Foundation Chairman Stephen Ruzow. “It’s an exciting way to reach new audiences with messages of fire and life safety. We know these calendars go into homes around the world, which allows us to keep people safe through fire safety education and to bring awareness to the missions of the FDNY and the FDNY Foundation.”
