The FDNY Foundation joins the FDNY in celebrating EMS Week 2025. This week is designed to promote public safety among all New Yorkers, attract potential EMS recruits, and celebrate the more than 4,400 members of FDNY’s Emergency Medical Service and their life-saving work.
The FDNY, with support from the FDNY Foundation, will hold events throughout the week to celebrate all of our EMTs and Paramedics, who work tirelessly to care for New Yorkers. We are grateful for their dedication and service.
The theme for EMS Week is: “We care. For everyone.”
The EMS Week poster features a Paramedic from every borough to highlight 50 years of Paramedicine.
“I think that’s very fitting for the FDNY because, of course, we do care for everyone. EMS Week is an amazing opportunity for us to showcase the great work that our EMTs and paramedics do all the time in New York City,” FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker said at the unveiling event. “When you see this poster around New York City, it should remind you to thank an EMT or paramedic when you see them. The work that you do for our city at times feels thankless, and it is not thankless work.”
Chief of EMS Operations Michael Fields said: “This year’s EMS Week in New York City shines a light on a significant milestone: 50 years of paramedicine right here in our city. It’s a time to recognize the incredible growth of this vital profession and the dedicated women and men who have built our Department into the leading force it is today when it comes to providing pre-hospital care and responding to medical emergencies. As the saying goes, ‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service of others.’ This truly reflects the selfless dedication of our EMS members over the past half century.”
The FDNY Foundation is honored to fund EMS Week as a small gesture of our thanks, gratitude, and appreciation to all our FDNY EMTs and Paramedics for their remarkable service and dedication to always keeping New York City safe.
