On Thursday, April 15, FDNY Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro presided over a promotion ceremony for 118 Fire and EMS members at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randalls Island.
“Today we have more than 100 FDNY members taking on new, critical roles in our Department. And watching at home, work, or somewhere on their mobile devices are your family, friends, and fellow FDNY members, each of them so incredibly proud of what you have accomplished. This is subdued affair compared to what would be our normal promotion ceremony, but in some ways it’s even more special because of what you have endured the last year to reach this milestone in your careers. We’re just over a year into this pandemic that changed all our lives. You overcame every obstacle thrown at you and you gather today ready to take on even greater responsibility. There’s nearly 2,000 years of experience among this esteemed group. In your new roles, you are all leading every single day, all working towards the same critical mission, protecting this city and saving lives under dangerous conditions. No one does it better than the members of the FDNY,” said Commissioner Nigro.
The FDNY Foundation sends our thanks and congratulations to all 118 Fire and EMS Officers on their promotions. This is a tremendous accomplishment in their careers! We thank them for their continued service and dedication in helping to keep all New Yorkers safe.
