Happy Thanksgiving from the FDNY Foundation!

Happy Thanksgiving from the FDNY Foundation!

The FDNY Foundation wishes you and your loved ones a Happy, Healthy, and Safe Thanksgiving. We are forever grateful for our FDNY firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics and their extraordinary work saving lives and protecting property in New York City.

Thank you for your generous support of FDNY members as we continue to help fund training, equipment and education for our first responders and fire and life safety programs throughout the City.

Below are some #FDNYSmart safety tips to remember this Thanksgiving:

-Most fires in the home start in the kitchen. Don’t leave cooking food unattended.
-Stand by your pan and turn your handles in.
-Wear short or tight-fitting sleeves. Long sleeves are more likely to catch on fire or get caught on pot handles.
-Keep the area around the stove clear of towels, papers, potholders and anything that can burn.
-Treat burns immediately with cool running water.
-Have a working smoke/CO alarm.
