FDNY Foundation Congratulates EMS Officers on their Promotions

It is with deep sadness that the FDNY Foundation joins the FDNY in mourning the passing of Active Captain Gregory J. Schmidt of Engine Company 8, who passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025. Captain Schmidt served our great department for 22 years; and also served our city prior to his service with FDNY as a police officer for NYPD.
Captain Schmidt is survived by his wife and three children. The FDNY Foundation has set up a scholarship fund for Captain Schmidt’s children.
