FDNY Foundation Congratulates 83 FDNY Fire Officers on their Promotions

On Thursday, July 24, the FDNY Foundation joined the FDNY for a Fire Officer Promotion ceremony on Staten Island. At the ceremony, 83 members of fire operations were promoted to the following ranks: Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Supervising Fire Marshal – Level 2, Lieutenant, Marine Assistant Engineer and Marine Wiper.

The FDNY Foundation congratulates these 83 Fire Officers on their promotions. This is a tremendous accomplishment for them and their families. We wish them continued success and thank them for their service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York and proudly representing the FDNY.

“It’s been almost a year since I started as fire commissioner, and it’s been an amazing year—one made great by days like today,” FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker said. “I’ve learned so much from all of you—about the kind of leaders you are in our great city. Fearless leaders, loyal, protective and smart. You are the reason I love this job and why the Department is so great. You are the reason I know our city is safe. There is one unifying factor among all of you: It is a call to service and a desire to do good. So today, I congratulate you on your next steps, and I challenge you to carry your passion to the next generation.”

“Whether you are at the beginning of your leadership journey or have been serving for some time, you have a big responsibility as a leader of your team. What works in the FDNY is teamwork, trust and loyalty,” said Chief of Operations Kevin Woods.

Additionally, two new FDNY Chaplains were sworn in.
