FDNY Foundation Congratulates 288 Probationary Firefighters on their Graduation

January 27, 2023

The FDNY Foundation congratulates the 288 Probationary Firefighters who graduated today. They are a remarkable group and we wish them the best of luck in the FDNY. We thank them for choosing a career of service and commitment to protecting the people and City of New York, and proudly representing the FDNY. We would also like to acknowledge and thank the 32 military members who graduated.

“As you begin your careers, remember the work you do makes a difference in the lives of your neighbors. Respect your responsibility. Nurture your skills. Strive to continue learning. Learn from successes and failures,” said Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh.

Chief of Department John Hodgens said, “You should all be incredibly proud of everything you’ve done to arrive at this moment. This work is never easy – in fact, it is not supposed to be. But it is incredibly rewarding, and I know you will soon find exactly how rewarding.”
